Farshad Hasounizade (died 13 October 2015) was a general of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps of Iran who was killed in the Syrian Civil War.
Biography[]
Farshad Hasounizade was a veteran of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps in the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s, and he led the Saberin Special Brigade of the IRGC. During the Syrian Civil War, Hasounizade was deployed to advise the Syrian Arab Army against the Free Syrian Army and Islamists. On 13 October 2015, both Colonel Hasounizade and General Hamid Mokhtarband were killed in the 2nd Northwestern Syria Offensive in northern Hama Governorate in combat with the Syrian Opposition.
