The Fall of Puli Khumri occurred on 10 August 2021 when the Taliban captured the Baghlan Province capital of Puli Khumri amid the 2021 Taliban offensive which ended the Afghanistan War. Puli Khumri, located at a critical junction 140 miles north of the Afghan capital of Kabul, fell after heavy fighting, with security forces abandoning their compounds as the Taliban broke through the frontlines in several directions. Puli Khumri was the eighth of Afghanistan's 34 provincial capitals to fall to the Taliban during their summer offensive.
