Fahrettin

Fahrettin was an Ottoman Army officer and Turkish nationalist who helped to thwart a 21 April 1919 assassination attempt against Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. He was nicknamed "Fahri the German" because of his love for the German Empire, which made him unpopular among fellow Turks who believed that Turkey's alliance with Germany dragged the Ottoman Empire into a losing war and led to their empire's decline. In 1919, he sent a note to Kemal's lover Peride, revealing that the British and the black marketeer Halit were planning to kill Kemal at the Pera Palace Hotel, enabling Peride to thwart the assassination attempt. He was also able to partially help Peride’s twin sister Esra Köksüz stop the assassination attempt after the passage of time was altered. However, he was caught and subsequently shot by Halit, who was able to capture him days earlier.
