
Fahim Wardak (1955-5 September 1986) was a leader of the Mujahideen during the Soviet-Afghan War.
Biography[]
Fahim Wardak was born in Afghanistan, and became a fighter of the rebel Mujahideen when the Soviet Union invaded in December 1979. Wardak led his fighters in a guerrilla war against the Soviets, and fought the invaders from Khost, a stronghold on the border with Pakistan.
In 1986, he fought in the Battle of Khost against an attacking Soviet army under Lev Kravchenko. Leading his men in combat, he was shot in the head by a Soviet soldier on the opposite side of a road in a small war-torn village.
