
Fahd Mohammed Ahmed al-Quso (12 November 1974-6 May 2012) was an al-Qaeda leader who was responsible or the USS Cole bombing in 2000. He was killed in Yemen in 2012.
Biography[]
Fahd Mohammed Ahmed al-Quso was born in Aden, Yemen in 1974 on 12 November. He became a member of the Islamist al-Qaeda organization, led by the Saudi billionaire son Osama bin Laden. Fahd al-Quso was responsible for the USS Cole bombing in 2000, supplying the boat and weapons used in the attack on the United States ship. He partially funded the 9/11 attacks in New York City and Washington DC, and was wanted by the American FBI for his roles in the attacks. Within weeks of the USS Cole attack, he was arrested by the Yemeni Army and escaped in 2003, but was recaptured in 2004. In 2007 he was secretly released by the Yemeni government and lived in an isolated mountain area away from civilization. On 6 May 2012, Fahd al-Quso was targeted by the American CIA as he exited a car with a fellow al-Qaeda operative in Shabwa Province, and the two were killed in a drone strike.
