The FOB Serpiente raid occurred in 2019 when American special forces raided FOB Serpiente in Bolivia's Flor de Oro province with the objective of rescuing Manuel Moran, an imprisoned La Unidad defector who had information on General Juan Pablo Baro Rebolledo's whereabouts.
General Baro was a decorated military leader who broke bad when he agreed to help the Santa Blanca Cartel. Baro's former aide betrayed him and joined the Kataris 26 rebels, but he was imprisoned at a La Unidad base in Flor de Oro as a result. CIA agent Karen Bowman dispatched Major Anthony Perryman and his Ghost Recon team to free his former aide and find out if he had intel on the general's location.
The Ghosts infiltrated the base at night, intending on remaining stealthy until they could reach the defector. However, they were detected once Unidad discovered several of their comrades' corpses in the wake of the Ghosts' arrival, resulting in a massive shootout. The Americans fought off dozens of Unidad soldiers, shot down at least one helicopter, and eventually took shelter in a concrete sniper tower, where Perryman killed every search party sent after him until the Bolivians gave up their efforts to find the intruders, believing them dead or escaped. Perryman proceeded to make his way into the prison, where he rescued the defector as his teammates held off Unidad reinforcements. Perryman learned from Moran that Baro's daughter, Erendira Buendia, worked as a schoolteacher, and Bowman persuaded a reluctant Perryman and his team to kidnap Buendia and force her to lure her father out of hiding.
