The FOB Armadillo raid occurred in 2019 when a team of four American special forces operatives infiltrated the Bolivian La Unidad military police unit's FOB Armadillo in Itacua province with the objective of interrogating Captain Arnaldo Fuentes about his ties to Santa Blanca Cartel lieutenants Zapatero Gonzalez and Gloria Fernandez.
Using intel obtained in the Itacua outpost raid, Major Anthony Perryman learned that Captain Fuentes had been bribed by the cartel to hand over Kataris 26 prisoners to Gonzalez and Fernandez. Intent on luring Gonzalez and Fernandez into a trap, Perryman and his squad used a helicopter to fly from the Itacua outpost to FOB Armadillo along the Rio Uruqui. The team inserted in the middle of the night, stealthily taking out tower guards and making their way into the base, where Perryman freed several captured Kataris 26 fighters. Rather than make a run for it, the Kataris fighters engaged the Bolivian soldiers, enabling Perryman to rush to Captain Fuentes' quarters and capture the cowering officer. He forced Fuentes to call Gonzalez and arrange a prisoner handoff, drawing Gonzalez and Fernandez back to Itacua, where Ghost Recon could track them down. Leaving the base, however, was a much more difficult proposition. As open conflict broke out between the Unidad forces and the Americans, Unidad reinforcements were dispatched, including attack helicopters. The Americans were forced to take shelter in the hangar and battle their way past Unidad reinforcements before taking cover long enough for the helicopter to lose interest in finding them, and they made their escape as the search died down.
