F-80A Shooting Star

The F-80A Shooting Star was the first jet fighter used by the US Air Force, designed in 1943 by Lockheed. It was built too late to see service in World War II, but Shooting Stars saw action in the Korean War against North Korea and the communists. Th MiG-15's superiority forced the United States to replace the F-80A with the F-86 Sabre.
