Ewan McDougle (1780-1842) was an American pioneer from North Carolina who farmed in Red Bay, Alabama during the 19th century. Born in Uwharrie, North Carolina, the son of Francis McDougle, Ewan took part in the westward surge of farmers searching for cheap lands and new opportunities as his family's corn farm struggled. He settled in Red Bay, Alabama and served in the militia during the Creek War and the War of 1812. McDougle, a poor subsistence farmer who distrusted big business and politicians, was a staunch Jacksonian and regularly voted Democratic. He fathered four children, including Garvin McDougle.
