Ewald von Lochow

Ewald von Lochow (1 April 1855-11 April 1942) was a General der Infanterie of the Imperial German Army during World War I.

Biography[]

Ewald von Lochow was born on 1 April 1855 in Petkus, Prussia, and he entered the general staff of the Imperial German Army. He became a General der Infanterie during World War I, and he led the German 5th Army at the Battle of Verdun in 1916. After the disastrous defeat there, Lochow was sacked, and he retired from the military in 1917. Von Lochow died in Berlin-Charlottenburg, Nazi Germany on 11 April 1942 at the age of 87.
