Biography[]
Eugenio Blanco became a Mexican Army officer at a young age, and he was accused of raping a woman while he was just a lieutenant; he scapegoated another lieutenant for the rape, and he had him murdered before he could stand trial. He was later promoted to General, and he was known for his pragmatism and his influence in the government; he was a valued advisor under President Carlos Salinas de Gortari during the 1980s. In 1989, he masterminded the division of the Guadalajara Cartel's lands among several of Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo's lieutenants, and he was engaged in secretive deals with the cartels with the goal of maintaining the balance of power and decreasing the amount of violence seen on the streets of Mexico. Conrado Higuera Sol served as his assistant, and the two of them engaged in dark activities, including planning the double murder of Sinaloa Cartel boss Joaquin Guzman Loera and Cardinal Juan Jesus Posadas Ocampo in 1993.
Downfall[]
The journalist Gabriela Saavedra, assisted by Blanco's disloyal subordiante Higuera, uncovered the rape allegations and used documents from the Attorney General's office to prepare a story naming Blanco as the true rapist. He was removed from his post as government liaison with the drug cartels as a result of the allegations, and Higuera rose in the world of politics. He then proceeded to gun Saavedra down with a handgun, and he was later encountered by Higuera, who forced him to take a drive with him. Blanco crashed the car into a tree in an attempt to escape, but Higuera managed to shoot him dead before he could escape.
