Ettore Sacchi (31 May 1851-6 April 1924) was an Italian politician and a co-founder of the Italian Radical Party.
Biography[]
Ettore Sacchi was born in Cremona, Lombardy, Italy in 1851, and, after graduating from the University of Pavia and becoming a lawyer, he joined the Historical Far Left. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1882, and he succeeded Felice Cavallotti as leader of the Extreme in 1898 and founded the Italian Radical Party in 1904. He served as Justice Minister in 1906 and from 1916 to 1919 and as Public Works Minister from 1910 to 1911, allying with the Liberal Union. He resigned in 1919 and ended his party's support for Vittorio Emanuele Orlando's government, resulting in the Radicals losing much of their popular support. He died in poverty in Rome in 1924.
