Ethnic nationalism is the belief that all people of one race or ethnicity are one nation, and that people of other races or ethnicities are the enemy. Ethnic nationalism was the concept that led to the creation of the German Empire in 1871 and Nazi Germany in 1938, with the German people rallying together to create a united Germany; in the Nazi Party's case, this meant annexing the Germanic nation of Austria in the Anschluss and taking over the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia. Ethnic nationalism has also been seen in Japan's pan-Asian nationalist ideology during the 1930s and 1940s and in South Korea's belief in a united Korea since the peninsula's division after World War II. Several hate groups in the United States (and elsewhere) use ethnic nationalism as their ideology, including the Black Panthers, the Ku Klux Klan, and the Five-Percent Nation, which advocate either black or white nationalism.
