Ethel Armstrong MacDonald (1857 -1941) was a British aristocrat and wife of Sir Claude Maxwell MacDonald.

Biography[]

Ethel Armstrong MacDonald was born in 1857. She get married in 1892 with Sir Claude Maxwell MacDonald a British diplomat born in India. They had two daughters. In 1900, she was present during the Boxer Rebellion and the Siege of Peking. She also lived in Japan before moving to China. Claude died in 1915 in London of a heart attack. Lady MacDonald was named Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in her own right in 1935. She died in London in 1941, She is buried with her husband in Brookwood Cemetery.
