Ethan Allen Brown (4 July 1776 – 24 February 1852) was Governor of Ohio (DR) from 14 December 1818 to 4 January 1822 (succeeding Thomas Worthington and preceding Allen Trimble) and a US Senator from 3 January 1822 to 4 March 1825 (succeeding William A. Trimble and preceding William Henry Harrison).
Biography[]
Ethan Allen Brown was born in Darien, Connecticut in 1776, and he studied law under Alexander Hamilton before becoming a lawyer in 1802. He moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1803, and he served on the Ohio Supreme Court. Brown served as Governor of Ohio from 1818 to 1822 and in the US Senate from 1822 to 1825, and he died in Indianapolis in 1852 at a Democratic Party convention.
