Estevan Chanta (1555-) was a Spanish Navy captain during the Dutch Revolt. On 15 May 1600, while commanding the 12-gun Spanish trade galleon Nuestra Senora de la Popa off the north coast of Puerto Rico, he was attacked by the Dutch privateer Jan Alen. Chanta surrendered after his ship was pounded into submission.
