Esteban Valenzuela

Esteban Valenzuela (12 March 1964-) was a Chilean politician who served as Mayor of Rancagua from 26 September 1992 to 6 December 1996 and as a Deputy from 11 March 2002 to 11 March 2010.

Biography[]

Esteban Valenzuela was born in Rancagua, Chile in 1964, and he became a union advisor, journalist, and political science professor before entering politics with MAPU and cofounding the Party for Democracy in 1987. He served as Mayor of Rancagua from 1992 to 1996, taking office at the young age of 28, and he also served as a deputy from 2002 to 2010, joining the liberal ChilePrimero splintergroup in 2007 before leaving the party due to its support for the right-wing president Sebastian Pinera. He left office in 2010 and worked with Mayan communities in Guatemala from 2010 to 2013, when he returned to Chile. In 2017, he joined FREVS, rising to be its Vice-President.
