Esra Koksuz

Esra Köksüz (17 October 1941–) was a Turkish journalist who lived in Istanbul during the 2020s. She was orphaned shortly after her birth, as her mother Meliha died in labor, and her father Mümtaz Soyolouğlu was shot by Halit Vatansever after Mümtaz tried fleeing with Esra via time travel.

Despite her father failing to time travel with her, she was still able to accomplish it as her older self abandoned her in a room at the Pera Palace Hotel, which sent her to 1995; manager Ahmet Soystren found her and handed her over to the police, who gave her the name "Esra" (after one of the policemen's first love) and the surname "Köksüz" (meaning "orphan"). Her twin sister was the socialite Peride Efendi, who was also placed in one of the Palace’s time-traveling rooms but ended up in 1892 instead. Although Esra was born in 1941, technically making her 81 years old in 2022, she is physically only 27 years old.

Esra went on to develop a fascination with the Pera Palace Hotel and Agatha Christie novels, and she unknowingly followed in her mother’s footsteps by becoming a journalist. She was known for her in-depth investigative pieces which went beyond what was asked of her, such as her investigating restaurant racketeering while being assigned to do a restaurant review.
