Esmail Ahmadi-Moqaddam (1961-) was Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Police from 9 June 2005 to 9 March 2015, succeeding Ali Abdollahi and preceding Hossein Ashtari.
Biography[]
Esmail Ahmadi-Moqaddam was born in Narmak, Iran in 1961, and he served in the IRGC Basij during the Iran-Iraq War. He later moved on to serve as commandant of Police University, and he also served as deputy commander of the Basij and its commander in the Greater Tehran region. From 2005 to 2015, he served as commander-in-chief of the Iranian Police, and, from 2009 to 2011, he took part in the foundation of the Iranian Cyber Police agency to crack down on "anti-revolutionary" dissidents.
