Eschiva of Bures (1135-1187) was Princess of Galilee from 1158 to 1187 and Countess of Tripoli from 1174 to 1187.
Biography[]
Eschiva of Bures was born in 1135, the daughter of Prince William I of Bures and Ermengarde of Ibelin, and she married Count Walter of Saint Omer in 1158 and became the Princess of Galilee as his consort. The marriage was arranged by King Baldwin III of Jerusalem to solve a dispute between the Bures and Saint Omer dynasties over the ownership of Galilee, and she gave birth to Hugh II and Raoul of Saint Omer. When Walter died in 1174, Eschiva remarried to Count Raymond III of Tripoli, who inherited Galilee from Walter. Eschiva died in 1187.
