Ernst Lofstrom (31 May 1865-5 January 1937) was a Lieutenant-General of the Finnish Army during the Finnish Civil War.
Biography[]
Ernst Lofstrom was born in Palii, Finland, Russian Empire in 1865, and he attended the Hamina Cadet School from 1877 to 1885. He served in the Imperial Russian Army during World War I, and he left for Finland in 1917 following the Russian Revolution. There, he became a general in the newly-formed Finnish Army of "White Finland", fighting against the socialist Finnish Red Guards during the Finnish Civil War. He was responsible for the execution of captured Reds at Varkaus and elsewhere, and he commanded the Eastern Army during the war. In 1927, he became a General, and he died in Helsinki in 1937.
