Biography[]
Ernesto Cruz was born in the United States to a family of Mexican descent, and he became a deep-cover DEA agent due to his fluency in Spanish and his skill with guns. In 1989, he succeeded in retrieving files about cartel boss Papa Muerte during a jungle raid, but he was thrown from a plane by corrupt DEA agent Frank Johnson and killed. His death was passed off as a drug overdose, but his sons Tommy and Ramiro Cruz would launch their own undercover investigations about their father's death in 2005.
