Erich Neumann

Erich Neumann (31 May 1892-23 March 1951) was a German NSDAP politician.

Biography[]

Erich Neumann was born in Forst, Bavaria, German Empire in 1892, and he served as a lieutenant in the Imperial German Army during World War I. After the war, he became a civil servant in the Prussian Ministry of the Interior and a member of the DNVP, and he became district president of Freystadt in Lower Silesia in 1927. He joined the NSDAP in 1933 and the SS in 1934, and he helped to implement Hermann Goering's "Aryanization" of the German economy; in 1942, he represented the Ministries of Economy, Labour, Finances, Food, Transport and Armaments and Ammunition at the Wannsee Conference, attempting to have Jewish workers in firms essential to the war effort not be deported for the time being. He was interned by the Allies from 1945 to 1948, when he was released due to poor health, and he died in 1951.
