Enver Hadzihasanovic

Enver Hadzihasanovic (7 July 1950-) was Chief of Staff and a Major-General of the ARBiH during the Bosnian War.

Biography[]

Enver Hadzihasanovic was born in Zvornik, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia in 1950 to a family of Bosniaks, and he graduated from the military academy in Belgrade in 1973. By 1989, he was in command of a motorized brigade of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. At the beginning of April 1992, the JNA placed him under house confinement due to the start of the Bosnian War, but he deserted the JNA and joined the ARBiH, the military of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 1993, he became Chief of Staff of the ARBiH, and he was charged with war crimes after the war's end, being sentenced to 3.5 years in prison in 2008 for the death of a prisoner of war and cruel treatment.
