The Enragés were a radical French Revolution-era political club that represented the violent sans-culottes of Paris. Its leaders Jacques Roux, Jean-Francois Varlet, Jean Theophile Victor Leclerc, and Claire Lacombe criticized the National Convention for failing to carry out the promised revolution, and the Enrages demanded that more actions be taken to help the poor, including the implementation of direct democracy. In 1794, the Jacobin Club ordered for the Enrages to be guillotined during the Reign of Terror, as they were too radical.
