Engelbrecht Brickner

Engelbrecht Brickner (14 June 1733-26 December 1776) was a Major in the Kuechler Regiment of Hesse-Kassel during the American Revolutionary War.

Biography[]

Engelbrecht Brickner was born on 14 June 1733 in Kassel, Hesse-Kassel, and he saw action in the War of the Austrian Succession and the Seven Years' War in the service of Prussia and Great Britain. Brickner would be attached to Sven Kuechler's regiment in 1775 as a Major when it was shipped to North America during the American Revolutionary War, and he fought at the battles for New York in 1776. On 26 December 1776, Kuechler sent him to lead a patrol around Trenton (the only patrol sent that evening), and he was killed when the patrol was ambushed and wiped out by Nathaniel Black's militia.
