Emperor Yongzheng (13 December 1678-8 October 1735), born Yinzhen, was the fifth Emperor of the Qing dynasty, and the third Qing emperor to rule over China proper. Yongzheng ruled from 27 December 1722 to 8 October 1735, succeeding Emperor Kangxi and preceding Emperor Qianlong. His reign saw China become the world's most prosperous empire, having the world's fastest growing economy with the largest territory. He succeeded his father, the Kangxi Emperor, in 1722, and he died of elixir poisoning on 1735. His son, Hongli, later known as Emperor Qianlong, succeeded him.
