Emory Pedan (1831-1899) was a Confederate veteran of the American Civil War and a leader of the Louisiana Raiders gang during the late 19th century. In 1899, he led a group of Raiders into the Rhodes Parlour House after he heard that two men were giving away free monshine, and he confronted Hosea Matthews and demanded that he hand over the moonshine, as it had been stolen from the Raiders after an earlier shootout. Ultimately, Arthur Morgan and Matthews engaged in a shootout with the Raiders, killing Pedan and his men before escaping.
