Emir Khalid of Shirazid Emirate

Emir Khalid of Shirazid Emirate (1002-1035) was the emir of the Shirazid Emirate from 1032 to 1035, succeeding Emir Da'ud of Shirazid Emirate and preceding Emir Ali IV of Shirazid Emirate.

Biography[]

Emir Khalid was born in 1002 to the Shirazids, a dynasty of Sunni Muslim Berbers that ruled over the Horn of Africa. Khalid was the son of Emir Ali III of Shirazid Emirate, but he was younger than his brother Emir Da'ud of Shirazid Emirate by two years, so he was forced to wait until his brother's death in 1032 to begin his reign (Da'ud's son Ali was only two at the time and not yet ready to reign). Khalid succeeded his brother, reigning for only three years before his death. Ali was still just five, but he was the only member of the family left to continue the succession.
