Emilio Bello Codesido

Emilio Bello Codesido (13 July 1868-3 March 1963) was President of Chile from 27 January to 12 March 1925, succeeding Pedro Dartnell and preceding Arturo Alessandri. He was a member of the Liberal Democratic Party of Chile.

Biography[]

Emilio Bello Codesido was born in Santiago, Chile on 13 July 1868, and he became a lawyer in 1889 and was exiled for his support of President Jose Manuel Balmaceda during the Chilean Civil War of 1891. He later returned to organize the Liberal Democratic Party of Chile in Valparaiso, and he also served as ambassador to Bolivia and Mexico. In 1925, he was elected interim President of the Government Junta of Chile, and he stepped down when Arturo Alessandri returned to power. He died in 1963.
