Emilio Alioto was the Don of the Alioto crime family from 1939, succeeding Luciano Alioto.
Biography[]
Emilio Alioto was the son of Luciano Alioto and the elder brother of Franklin Alioto, and his father sent him to New York to expand the family's operations. With the help of the Stracci crime family, his brother Franklin opened the Hotel Alioto in Little Italy, New York City, and Emilio Alioto ran a gambling racket upstairs. In 1939, he succeeded his father as Don of the Alioto crime family after Vito Corleone had Luca Brasi murder him, and Corleone crime family enforcer Aldo Trapani forced Alioto to switch his allegiance from the Straccis to the Corleones in December 1945.
