Emil Kolar (29 August 1966 - 11 June 1998) was a Czech-American resident of North Caldwell, New Jersey. The son of a wealthy sanitation company owner, Kolar was murdered by Christopher Moltisanti during a dispute between his father's company and Barone Sanitation.

Biography[]

Emil Kolar was born in Czechoslovakia, and his family moved to the United States when he was just nine years old. Kolar went to school at West Essex High School in North Caldwell, New Jersey, and he played varsity football at the same time as Christopher Moltisanti's cousin.

Kolar came from a wealthy Czech family, with his father owning his own waste sanitation corporation that engaged in a contract bidding war with the Mafia-linked Barone Sanitation company in 1998. DiMeo crime family associate Christopher Moltisanti decided to lure Kolar to a meeting at Satriale's Pork Store to seek an amicable solution to the problem.

Moltisanti greeted Kolar, whose name he mispronounced as "E-mail" instead of "Ay-meel" seven times, in the back room of the pork store, where Moltisanti asked Kolar about his background and his national origin. He then took out some cocaine for Kolar to buy, having prepared some on a cleaver so that Kolar could snort it. As Kolar began to snort the cocaine, Moltisanti retrieved a pistol from behind a rack of pork and shot Kolar once in the back of the head, causing Kolar to fall onto the table before sliding off. Moltisanti shot him two more times as he lay on the ground, and Salvatore Bonpensiero helped Moltisanti with burying the body. His family, worried about Emil's disappearance, ended their bid for Barone Sanitation's garbage routes.
