Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy-Aosta

Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy-Aosta (13 January 1869 – 4 July 1931) was a Field Marshal of Italy during World War I.

Biography[]

Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy-Aosta was the son of King Amadeo I of Spain and Maria Vittoria dal Pozzo della Cisterna, born on 13 January 169. In 1905 he began his career in the Royal Italian Army, and in 1915 he was given command of the Italian 3rd Army. During World War I, he fought against Austria-Hungary on the eastern border with Austria-Hungary, and in 1926 he was promoted to Field Marshal by Benito Mussolini after the war's end. He died in 1931 in Turin, and he was buried in Fogliano Redipuglia with thousands of his soldiers.
