Elliot Condon (1961-) was Taoiseach of Ireland from 24 April 2023.
Biography[]
Elliot Condon was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1961, the grandson of an Irish Civil War veteran who had fought for the pro-Treaty IRA. Condon worked as a management consultant before becoming involved in politics as a member of the liberal-conservative Fine Gael party, and he served as a TD before becoming his party's leader on the eve of the 2023 elections.
On 10 April 2023, Fine Gael placed in second with 20.45% of the vote and 6/30 seats in the Dáil Éireann, behind Fianna Fáil's 25.39% and 8/30 seats and ahead of Sinn Fein's 14.95% and 5/30 seats, the Green Party's 10.95% and 3/30 seats, the Social Democrats' 8.54% and 3/30 seats, People Before Profit's 7.77% and 2/30 seats, the Irish Labor Party's 7.4% and 2/30 seats, and Aontu's 4.55% and 1/30 seats. Condon formed a government with the support of 18 TDs (from PBP, the Greens, Scial Democrats, and Sinn Fein) to Fianna Fail leader Art O'Toole's 12 (from Labour, Fianna Fail, and Aontu).
