
Elisha Lawrence (1746-23 July 1799) was the Federalist Governor of New Jersey from 25 July to 29 October 1790, succeeding William Livingston and preceding William Paterson.
Biography[]
Elisha Lawrence was born in Upper Freehold Township, New Jersey in 1746, and he served as a militia brigadier during the American Revolutionary War and as a justice of the peace in 1788 before serving as acting governor in 1790. He died in 1799.
