Elijah Babbitt

Elijah Babbitt (29 July 1795 – 9 January 1887) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-PA 25) from 4 March 1859 to 3 March 1863, succeeding John Dick.

Biography[]

Elijah Babbitt was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1795, and he moved to New York with his parents in 1805; he then moved to Milton, Pennsylvania in 1816 and became a lawyer in 1824. He moved to Erie in 1826 and served as a borough and city attorney, and he served in the State House from 1836 to 1837 and in the State Senate from 1843 to 1846. Babbitt later served in the US House of Representatives from 1859 to 1863, and he died in 1887.
