
Eli Jones Henkle (24 November 1828-1 November 1893) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-MD 5) from 4 March 1875 to 3 March 1881, succeeding William Albert and preceding Andrew G. Chapman.
Biography[]
Eli Jones Henkle was born in Westminster, Maryland in 1828, and he practiced medicine in Brooklyn, Maryland before becoming a university professor. He served in the House of Delegates in 1863, in the State Senate from 1867 to 1870, in the House of Delegates from 1872 to 1875, and in the US House of Representatives from 1875 to 1881. He moved to Chicago in 1889, only to return to Baltimore, where he died in 1893.
