Eli Charles Daniel Shortridge (29 March 1830-4 February 1908) was the Democratic Governor of North Dakota from 3 January 1893 to 10 January 1895, succeeding Andrew H. Burke and preceding Roger Allin.

Biography[]

Eli Charles Daniel Shortridge was born in Cabell County, West Virginia in 1830 and raised in Paris, Missouri, and he moved to Larimore, North Dakota in 1882. He was elected Governor in 1893 on a fusion ticket of Populists, Democrats, and the Farmers' Alliance, and he built the state capitol before retiring from office after one term. He died in Devils Lake in 1908.
