Eleazar (1524 BC-1425 BC) was High Priest of Israel from 1452 BC to 1425 BC, succeeding Aaron and preceding Phinehas.
Biography[]
Eleazar was born in Egypt in 1524 BC, the son of Aaron and the nephew of Moses. During the Exodus, he created the plating for the altar from the firepans of Korah's assembly, and he later oversaw the carriage of the Ark of the Covenant and other Tabernacle fittings. As Aaron was passing away in 1452 BC, he bequeathed his High Priest vestments to Eleazar, making him the new Kohen Gadol. Eleazar took part in the numbering of the people, assisted at the inauguration of Joshua, and distributed the Israelite lands after the conquest of Canaan. He died in 1425 BC and was buried at Gibeah.
