Elci Ozkul (1477 - 1511) was a palace official of the Ottoman Empire who conspired with the Byzantine Rite of the Templar Order to assassinate Prince Suleiman the Magnificent at a banquet in Topkapi Palace, Constantinople. He was instead killed by Yusuf Tazim.
Biography[]
Ozkul was a member of the government of Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II, and was a key official of the Ottoman Empire at Topkapi Palace. He stayed with the House of Osman until the 1506 earthquake, after which Bayezid appeared to be weak and mismanaging affairs. Elci Ozkul conspired with Manuel Palaiologos to restore the Byzantine Empire, and in 1511 was one of the two Templar killers sent to assassinate Prince Suleiman the Magnificent at a banquet at Topkapi Palace.
Death[]
Ozkul arrived at the party with fellow conspirator Zaman Can, and prepared to strike when Prince Suleiman appeared. However, he was distracted by assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who was dressed as a ministrel, and was playing a lute to Ozkul and a crowd of noblemen and women. As he was occupied, Ozkul was assassinated from behind by Yusuf Tazim, another member of the Assassins.
