
Eiji Goto (5 November 1887 – 24 November 1967) was a Vice-Admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II.
Biography[]
Eiji Goto was born on 5 November 1887 in Daisen, Akita Prefecture, Japan. He graduated from the Imperial Japanese Navy Academy in 1909 and was a Lieutenant during World War I, leading the Japanese 5th Torpedo Squadron in the early stages of World War II, becoming a Vice-Admiral in 1941. Goto took part in the victory at the Battle of Wake Island, but after defeats at the Marshalls-Gilberts raids and the Action off Bougainville in 1942, he was reassigned to the Chinkai Guard District and other shore posts. He died at the age of 80 in 1967.
