Ehsaan Bhave (1704 - 1795) was a Maratha scholar and Lord Treasurer of the Maratha Confederacy from 1740 until his death. He is considered to be one of history's greatest financial minds.
Early Life[]
Ehsaan Bhave was born to a peasant family in the middle of the war between the Maratha Confederacy and the Mughal Empire. During a raid of the Mughal Empire through a village, his parents were both killed. Ehsaan was luckily adopted by a scholar of the Maratha Confederacy.
Financial career[]
Ehsaan Bhave studied finance in Satara, the capital of the Maratha Confederacy and turned out to be very talented in this subject. He worked hard and became the greatest financial mind in the Maratha Confederacy and one of the best in the world. Under Tarabai III he was named Lord Treasurer in 1740 until his death. He is especially remembered for his education-spending, health care-spending and infrastructure-spending reforms which revolutionised the Maratha Confederacy social system.
