The Egyptian Air Force (EAF) is the aviation branch of the Egyptian Armed Forces, founded in 1937. An air service wing of the Egyptian Army was founded in 1932 and became independent in 1937, and it took part in four separate wars with Israel from 1948 to 1973 and supported the Egyptian Army during the North Yemen Civil War and the Libyan-Egyptian War of 1977. Since then, the EAF has seen relatively little combat, although it has been involved in fighting the Sinai insurgency and in the Second Libyan Civil War and the Yemeni Civil War. By 2021, the EAF had 30,000 active personnel, 20,000 reserve personnel, and 1,069 aircraft.
