Egushawa (1745-) was a war chief of the Plains Nations who was a master of horses and a man with addled wits.
Biography[]
Born a Cheyenne Sioux, Egushawa was born in the Cheyenne Territory. He was raised as a warrior and by the age of 38 in 1783 had become a war chief. Egushawa captured Fort de Chartres from Spain in the summer of 1784, capturing Upper Louisiana and driving back Spain's colonial ambitions in central North America. Under his rule, Animism rose to control the region.
