
Edwin Sidney Broussard (4 December 1874 – 19 November 1934) was the US Senator from Louisiana (D) from 4 March 1921 to 4 March 1933, succeeding Edward James Gay III and preceding John H. Overton.
Biography[]
Edwin Sidney Broussard was born in Loreauville, Louisiana in 1874, and he served as a Captain in the US Army in Cuba during the Spanish-American War. He became a lawyer in New Iberia, Louisiana after his service, and he was affiliated with the Bull Moose Party, opposing the New Orleans Democratic Party machine. In 1920, he was elected to the US Senate as a Democrat, and he served until 1933, supporting a sugar tariff and federal flood projects. He retired in 1933, and he died in 1934.
