Edward William McGregor Mackey (8 March 1846-27 January 1884) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-SC 2) from 4 March 1875 to 19 July 1876 (succeeding Alonzo J. Ransier and preceding Charles W. Buttz) and from 31 May 1882 to 3 March 1883 (succeeding Samuel Dibble and preceding George D. Tillman) and from SC-7 from 4 March 1883 to 27 January 1884 (preceding Robert Smalls).

Biography[]

Edward William McGregor Mackey was born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1846, and he practiced law before serving as sheriff and alderman during Reconstruction, in the state house from 1873 to 1874 and from 1876 to 1877, and in the US House of Representatives from 1875 to 1876 and from 1882 to 1884. His election was annulled by Democrats after the end of Reconstruction, and he chaired the South Carolina Republican Party from 1880 until his death in 1884.
