Edward Rumsey

Edward Rumsey (5 November 1796-6 April 1868) was a member of the US House of Representatives (W-KY 2) from 4 March 1837 to 3 March 1839, succeeding Albert Gallatin Hawes and preceding Philip Triplett.

Biography[]

Edward Rumsey was born in Botetourt County, Virginia in 1796, and he was raised in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and was admitted to the bar in Greenville before practicing in Muhlenberg. He served in the State House in 1822 before serving in the US House of Representatives from 1837 to 1839. He retired after his children died of scarlet fever, and he died in 1868.
