
Edward Bates Pond (7 September 1833-22 April 1910) was the Democratic Mayor of San Francisco from 7 January 1887 to 7 January 1891, succeeding Washington Bartlett and preceding George Henry Sanderson.
Biography[]
Edward Bates Pond was born in Belleville, New York in 1833, and he moved to San Francisco, California and became mayor of the city from 1887 to 1891. He failed in his 1890 gubernatorial bid despite having the support of political boss Christopher Augustine Buckley, and he died in 1910.
