Eduardo Avalos (22 April 1892-17 May 1971) was War and Interior Minister of Argentina from 8 to 17 October 1944.
Biography[]
Eduardo Avalos was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1892, and, as a colonel in the Argentine Army, he joined the GOU and took part in the 1943 Argentine coup d'etat. He was one of the four colonels in charge of the GOU, and he opposed Juan Peron's political maneuvers. On 8 October, he became War and Interior Minister, and he had Peron arrested to stunt his rise to power. On 17 October 1945, mass protests by workers led to Peron's release, and Avalos decided to resign. He retired on 16 January 1946 and died in 1971.
