Edmund Knoll-Kownacki (12 July 1891-2 September 1953) was a Brigadier-General of the Polish Army during World War II.
Biography[]
Edmund Knoll-Kownacki was born on 12 July 1891 in Pomiechowek (near Plonsk), Congress Poland, Russian Empire. He was educated in Russia and became a rifleman battalion troop commander of the Imperial Russian Army during World War I, and he fought in the Polish-Soviet War after Poland gained its independence from Russia. Knoll-Kownacki was captured by the German Wehrmacht during the invasion of Poland in September 1939 and detained until the US Army liberated him in April 1945, and he settled on a small farm in Wales after the war. He died in 1953 in Llangefni.
